		"In Japan, the
crane is a mystical creature and is believed to live for a thousand
years. ... Traditionally, it was believed that if one folded 1000
origami cranes, one's wish would come true. It has also become a symbol
of hope and healing during challenging times." We learned how to make paper cranes
		-- as we talked
about things that have challenged us this past year and the things we
want to change in the new year. 2018, November 21st. We
enjoyed a potluck dinner and good conversations, and ended the evening
		with some board games.
PFLAG-ABQ provided the basics (like turkey, stuffing) and participants
brought favorite dishes to share (veggies, potatoes, sweets, pies!). A
good time! 2018, October 17th.  It
was't Halloween quite yet, but we celebrated a bit of "Samhain"--a day
in Scots and Irish culture which today we call "Halloween"--when
"separate things mingle": Fall and winter, living bodies and spirits. We
enjoyed Scottish & Irish snacks, and photos of Scotland & Ireland
explained by Havens Levitt. 2018, September 19th.

We began with snacks and socializing, then support and presentation. 2018 August 15th. A panel of
students and teachers discussed ways to make schools safer for LGBTQ
		students. We
began with support groups and followed with snacks and topical discussion. 2018, July
18th. As we did last year (in this time of possible summer monsoons),
		we enjoyed an INDOOR Picnic. PflagAbq provided the basics;
participants brought food (favorites) to share. Fun! We hope
to see you again next year too. 2018, June 20th. Our discussion focussed on family relationships after we watched a short documentary
film, "Gay Siblings" (from a LOGO series). 2018,
		May 16th. Albuquerque PRIDE parade
and festival happens in June, so we
talked about it and PFLAGabq's role in
the events. As always, we began our meeting with support and
		discussion. 2018,
		April 18th.
Tre Brewbaker, Mr. International Gay Rodeo Association (IGRA), and
Priscilla Toya Bouvier, Miss New Mexico Gay Rodeo Association (NMGRA)
spoke about IGRA/NMGRA and many of their personal experiences. Their talk began 8 PM; our PFLAG meeting
started at 7 PM with support. 2018, March 21st.
There was support, then an open discussion followed by a discussion
		focused on the topic
		of bisexuality. 2018, February 21st.
We followed our usual schedule of support and discussion. We will also shared memories of Katherine Palmer
as well as others who led our community toward freedom and pride.

 | "Today we remember
Katherine Palmer. It is with heavy hearts that we
inform our PFLAG family of her passing. Katherine was [a
				profound]
influence on our organization and community for many years. We
ask that our PFLAG family allow Katherine's partner space and
time to heal at this time" (L.M.). We invite anyone who would like to
remember Katherine with us to our February meeting on the 21st
				at 7pm. | 2018,

After some chit chat, we watched
		The Laramie Project,
a 97-minute film set in and around Laramie, Wyoming,
		filmed after
the murder of 21-year-old Matthew Shepard.
(The movie is an adaptation of a play by that name.)   |
