2012, December
18th. We began the evening with facilitated
support groups, as usual. We then conversed while
enjoying refreshments. We brought our favorite snacks to
share. Our chapter provided the beverages. It was a
yummy-fun-time. 2012, November 20th. This potluck dinner was also our annual meeting. PFLAG-Abq members provided the food. As usual, there was more than enough for everyone, and the potluck was fun. After dinner, we elected the new Board of Directors by acclamation, then we noted highlights of of our chapter's activities during 2012. Suggestions for future activities and procedures were proposed by members and visitors in attendance. 2012, October 16th. PJ Sedillo told us about Sinatra Devine Productions, an Albuquerque organization that produces an annual "Come Out, . Come Out Wherever You Are" show. 2012, September 18th. The 10th annual Southwest Gay and Lesbian Film Festival was our program topic. Roberto Appicciafoco and the Festival volunteer coordinator presented. They gave us details about the Festival, which is scheduled for September 28th through October 7th. 2012, September 13th. PFLAG ABQ sponsored a GLBT seniors meeting from 2-4 PM at the North Valley Senior Center. 2012, September 11th. PFLAG ABQ met in Los Lunas. 2012, August 21st. Lilias Gordon, a college student who recently attended the Campus Pride Leadership Camp at Vanderbilt University, reported on LGBTQ resources available to students and their families. Resources vary across college campuses. Lilias suggested that administrative and student community support should be considered when selecting a college. She described some programs now working to improve equality for LGBTQ teens. 2012, August 9th (Thursday). PFLAG Talent Show 7:30-9 PM in the Fellowship Room of the First Congregational Church. 2012, July 17th. Janalee Barnard told us about the Safezone Project in the Albuquerque Schools. 2012, June 30th. PFLAG ABQ was in the Albuquerque PRIDE Parade. We had a booth on the Expo New Mexico grounds. 2012, June 19th. We celebrated events that led to the formation of PFLAG beginning at a Pride parade in June of 1972. Now, 40 years later, we revisited some significant events that have made PFLAG into the awesome organization that it is today. After our program, we lit the candles on a cake and enjoyed refreshments. 2012, June 12. PFLAG ABQ meeting in Las Lunas. 2012, June 7th (Thursday, 2 PM to 4 PM. Gay, Lesbian, Bisexual and Transgender Seniors(50+) and Allies -- "Let's Get Together" at the Bear Canyon Senior Center (ROOM 4), 4645 Pitt St. NE, Albuquerque. Refreshments provided by Decades LLC. Hosted by PFLAG Albuquerque and New Mexico GLBTQ Centers. Info: 505-873-7373. 2012, May 15th. Families and Friends potluck. This event was attended by 73 people -- representing 32 organizations. PFLAG ABQ chapter members and some guests provided the food. 2012, April 17th. Pastor Lee Albertson was our presenter. He spoke of GLBT in the Bible 2012, March 20th. Robert Ortega, President of the Rainbow Roadrunners Car Club, told us about the club: "Rainbow Roadrunners Car Club is dedicated to the enjoyment and pursuit of cars. Old cars, new cars, fancy cars, project cars, we love them all. Our members own from none to thirty cars, all enjoy driving, talking about, tinkering with or ogling cars ... Katherine Palmer spoke about SAGE, the country's largest and oldest organization dedicated to improving the lives of lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender (LGBT) older adults. 2012, January 17th. Karen Rencountre, NM Gay Straight Alliance Network Coordinator at the Santa Fe Mountain Center, and some of the kids from GSAs or QSAs presented. |
